Hey guys just picked up a minolta f/ and an adapter from rainbow imaging but I can't seem to get it to work. I'm shooting in manual mode, but I can't seem to get the camera to take a shot Edit*nvm got it fixed, realized I had to turn on shoot without lens. If yes, I highly recommend reading these tips. 1. Control the Maximum Distance to an Object. All lenses have a fixed minimum focusing distance and it is important to stick to it. If you exceed this value, your 50mm lens can't focus properly and an object becomes blurred (manual focus doesn't help in this case). I have learned how to mentally visualize how depth of field is going to affect a scene so much more because of using manual aperture lenses. Here is a series from the Zeiss Planar T* 50mm f/ lens. It starts at f/, f/2, f/, and then finally shows f/4. Notice the huge difference this makes to the degree in which the background is blurred.
When you use a “manual” lens, I understand that means manual focus. As regards exposure, I normally shoot with my Fuji XT in Aperture Priority mode, meaning I set the aperture (it seems to always be F/ on my Fuji 35mm lens!) and let the camera choose the exposure time/ISO setting combination (basically, ISO subject to a minimum shutter speed of 1/sec). First, set your aperture value. On a manual lens you can twist a dial for your aperture and select whether you’d like to have a shallow depth of field or a photo with a lot in focus. Only the model in front is in focus because the depth of field is shallow.
